Skiing and Snowboarding at Keystone Resort

If you’re coming to Keystone, it’s almost undoubtedly because you want to ski!  The Keystone ski resort consists of 3 different mountains, 5 bowls, and over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain!  It will take you more time than you have to really get to know this mountain and get your fill of fresh, fluffy powder!

Here are some tips to make your trip easier and more enjoyable:

1. Rent equipment on the mountain – The rental office near the River Run gondola offer an assortment of skis and snowboards to get you on your way.  Renting on the mountain saves you the trouble of transporting skis to and from a rental shop.  In addition, it’s about the same price as everywhere else.  Of course, if you have your own equipment, it’s worth bringing it along.  Click here to get info on Keystone Rentals.

2. Wear a helmet – Ask any local and you’ll find out that wearing a helmet is not only smart, but it looks good and keeps your head warmer than any hat will ever do!  Plus you won’t look like a tourist! You can rent them for cheap at the rental office.

3. Visit the Outback – The Outback is the picturesque and remote part of Keystone. It is known for its tree skiing and bowls. If you are an intermediate to expert skier, you don’t want to miss it. If you want a taste of cat skiing, pay the $5 to ride the cat up to the top of the bowl.

4. Get hot chocolate at the Outpost – When the kids start to whine, there’s no better remedy than a hot chocolate at the Outpost Lodge on top of North Peak.  Within 30 minutes, they’ll be ready to head back out for a few more runs!

5. Take the kids tubing - Second best to flying down a hill with boards strapped to your feet is flying down a hill on a rubber tube with no brakes!  Call ahead for reservations – 970-496-4386.

6. If you feel like you’ve done everything, check out the map and find that run you haven’t done yet.
